is excited to tell you that we now have a Physical Therapist on board! Please let me introduce to you Scott Floyd. Scott has 23 years of experience as a Physical Therapist. He graduated from UNC-Chapel Hill. Scott is passionate about giving his patients a higher quality of life through his Physical Therapy services. We are very excited to have him on our team!

The Purpose of Physical Therapy

Many patients have injuries, disabilities, or other health conditions that need treatment. For example, a person has had a car accident that has left them disabled to one degree or another. Similarly, someone could be recovering from a surgery or sports accident. A Physical Therapist examines each patient and develops a treatment plan tailored to each individual’s needs. They train to be experts in improving mobility and restoring function to the body. Physical Therapists can help with any issues of mobility someone may have with their body, such as:

  • Neck
  • Back
  • Knees
  • Shoulders
  • Elbows
  • Ankles
  • Hip

How Chiropractors & Physical Therapists Work Together

Your spinal cord is like a highway connecting the brain to the rest of your body. That is, nerve messages travel from your brain to the spinal cord and then to the rest of your body. Then, the nerve messages travel back to the brain through the spinal cord. When nerve messages in your body jam up it is like being in a traffic jam on the freeway. Your body will not function optimally. In some cases, a joint, muscle, or area doesn’t function at all.

Chiropractic Adjustments

Chiropractors correct areas of the spine that are misaligned. We ease painful joints and muscles into their proper position through gentle manipulation. And, through regular adjustments, we keep your nerve connections and joints healthy and slow the progression of joint degeneration.
Adjustments can address many issues providing the following benefits:

  • Reduced joint restrictions
  • Reduced inflammation
  • Improved joint function
  • Improved nervous system function to enhance natural pain management
  • Reduced pressure on discs
  • Improved blood flow

Physical Therapist

As covered above, a Chiropractor adjusts the body to correct misalignments, open nerve channels, and relieve joint pain. However, now that the chiropractor has aligned the body, it still needs to “learn” how to work correctly. For example, an injured part of the body may have become weak from lack of use while recovering. A chiropractic treatment aligns the body. However, you still need to exercise and train the joints to function correctly again. This is where the Physical Therapist comes in. In other words, Chiropractic care adjustments the body while Physical Therapy helps to increase motion and strengthen the body. Both techniques work together to resolve pain and return mobility.

Combining Physical therapy and Chiropractic can help strengthen people and supercharge their healing experience. Physical therapy is for everyone.
